Since the outbreak of COVID-19, we’ve been closely monitoring the situation. We can imagine you have questions about your upcoming travel plans or want to make adjustments. We recommend making use of the self-service options. On this page, you’ll also find other travel alerts that may affect your journey.

Travel advice and entry requirements
Due to COVID-19, the Dutch government has imposed restrictions on passengers travelling to the Netherlands from high-risk areas.

Travelling from a safe area
You do not need to show a negative test result when you’re travelling to the Netherlands from a safe country. You are also not required to self-quarantine when you arrive in the Netherlands.
Travelling from a high-risk area
Are you travelling to the Netherlands from outside the EU? When you have an official vaccination certificate, you don’t need a test result. Do you only have proof of recovery from COVID-19? Then you still need a test result. When you’re travelling from an area with a concerning variant to the Netherlands, you also need a test result.

Travel bans
Several countries, including the Netherlands, have issued an immediate travel ban for passengers travelling to or from certain countries. If there is a travel ban for your destination, we’ll send you a cancellation message or an e-mail with all entry requirements as soon as possible.
Global rebook and refund policies
Test result comes in too late
If your negative COVID-19 PCR test result or negative rapid test result comes in too late, we’re offering the following rebook possibility.
Rebook your flight
- You can rebook your flight from 48 hours before your original scheduled departure time up until your original scheduled departure time.
- Your new travel date can be up to 4 days after your original travel date or on the next available flight.
- You can rebook at no additional costs within the same travel class (either Economy Class or Business Class). However, outside of the period mentioned above, a fare difference might apply.
- If you’re not able to depart on your original date, you can also change your return flight to keep the initial duration of your stay.
- Your purchased extra options are transferable to another date. The same goes for Flying Blue reward tickets.

Bookings via a travel agency
Did you book your ticket via a travel agency? Please contact them first to request information about your rebooking options.

Flight cancelled by the airline or travel ban for your destination
If your flight was cancelled by the airline or if you are travelling to a destination where a travel ban is issued, we’re offering the following rebook possibility.
1. Rebook your flight
Change your travel dates
Change your travel dates
- You may change your travel dates without having to pay the change fee. You can change your booking anytime, but it would be especially helpful to us if you would do so before your original travel date.
- Is your new travel date 30 days before or after your original travel date? Then you can rebook for free within the same travel class (Economy Class or Business Class). However, outside of the period mentioned above, a fare difference might apply.
Change your destination
- You may use the full value of your original tickets for new tickets on KLM, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin Atlantic.
- You will not have to pay the change fee. However, a fare difference might still apply.
How to rebook
- you have a KLM, Air France or Delta Air Lines ticket,
- your journey has not started yet,
- you are not travelling with a baby (0-1 years),
- you did not request a special service (e.g. ordered a special meal, are travelling as an unaccompanied minor, have requested transportation of a wheelchair or pet).
2. Request a refund in the form of a refundable travel voucher
If you choose to postpone your trip, we will provide you with a refund in the form of a travel voucher.
- If your travel voucher is issued between 1 March 2019 and 31 December 2020, you can use your voucher until 31 December 2021 on KLM, Air France, Delta Air Lines, and Virgin Atlantic. Vouchers that are issued on or after 1 January 2021, will be valid for 1 year after the date of issue.
- You can use your voucher to book a flight that takes place after the expiry date of the voucher.
- If the amount of your voucher is greater than the price of your new booking, you'll receive another voucher for the remaining balance.
- Your travel voucher is refundable.
How to request a refundable travel voucher
Request a refund in the form of a travel voucher online. - We will process your request and send your travel voucher via e-mail within a couple of days.
- Please note that your entire booking will be cancelled once we’ve issued your travel voucher.
Bookings via a travel agency
Did you book your ticket via a travel agency? Please contact them first to request information about your rebooking options.

How to use a travel voucher
You can use an unlimited number of vouchers as a payment method during online checkout to purchase a new ticket and/or extra options. You will not have to pay a booking fee.
3. Request a cash refund
If your flight was cancelled by the airline, you can also request a cash refund.
Decided to postpone your trip?
If you decide to postpone your trip, but your flight is not cancelled, different policies are in place, depending on what your scheduled departure date was. Not sure what your departure date was? Check the confirmation e-mail you received after booking your flight.
If your flight has not been cancelled by the airline, you can only change your booking before the scheduled departure of your flight.
Tickets booked with a departure before or on 31 December 2021
